Porcupine Wilderness State Park, MI
Towering virgin timber, secluded lakes, rugged Lake Superior shoreline, and miles of wild rivers and streams all contained in one of the few remaining large wilderness areas in the Midwest. Topping out at 60,000 acres the “Porkies” are truly a hidden gem nestled along Lake Superior’s southern shore. Wildlife is abundant within the park and includes black bear, wolves, bald eagles, loons and moose. We will spend our time in this ancient mountain range hiking, camping, swimming, cooking for ourselves, and exploring the park's hidden wonders. Participants will hike along the coastal trail and within the interior trail systems of the park and will camp and cook in remote backcountry sites. We’ll also take time to explore the park’s beautiful Lake of the Clouds and Mirror Lake. Hiking will range from easy to difficult depending on terrain. The trip belongs to the whole group, so every camper will be part of the leadership and decision making of our adventure.
