Lisa Zook
joined the Crystalaire family as a health officer during the summer of 2006. In order to combine her love of traveling with camp life, she later joined the Crystalaire Adventures team. The program allows her to benefit from everything that Northern Michigan and the Great Lakes have to offer. Previous trips have taken her to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, North and South Manitou Islands, Isle Royale, and Lake Superior Provincial Park. While on a trip she loves to stumble upon wildlife, swim in near-freezing waters, create new food concoctions, tell stories around the campfire, and take in beautiful scenery. When she isn’t camping, she is attending graduate school in Epidemiology and International Public Health at the University of Michigan focusing on infectious disease in Africa. Prior to graduate school she grew up in Columbus, Ohio and attended Davidson College in North Carolina.

Who we've got running the place...

Staff are the cornerstone of any adventure program. We select staff from enthusiastic college students and graduates, primarily from the Midwest, but also from all over the world.
When hiring staff, we look for people who possess interest and experience in a variety of fields, who have a good measure of flexibility, and have solid communication and listening skills with a healthy respect for the viewpoints of others.
We look for creative, people-centered staff embers who are willing to take on the responsibility to be solid role models. We strive for about all of the staff to hold certifications in either Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid and for all of our staff to hold current Lifeguard certification. As part of our staff training, we offer specific training focusing on type of adventure and location.
